Don't be fooled. Many of the so-called "soy" candles in today's market are actually a diluted blend containing soy wax and paraffin wax . Soy Basics' candles are the real thing, no blends, no paraffin wax. 

Soy wax is a renewable and sustainable resource made using soybeans.

Before each burn, trim the mushroom from the wick to minimize soot and flame height.

When lighting a soy candle for the first time, allow the wax to pool all the way to the sides of the container. The initial burn of the candle should last as long as it takes to get the melted wax all the way to the edges of the jar. 

This will give you maximum fragrance and minimize the amount of wax remaining on the sides of the container. If you do not allow the wax to pool on the first burn of your soy wax candle (or any candle), you may get "tunneling", which means the wax simply burns down the center of the candle, leaving wax on the side of the jar.

Soy wax candles can actually accommodate more fragrance on a by-weight basis than paraffin-based candles (10% vs. 6%).

Soy wax is not designed to be burned by itself without a container, which is one of the reasons you will not find pillar candles made of soy wax. In addition, votive candles made from soy wax need to be burned in a tight-fitting container for maximum fragrance and burn time.

Soy wax burns at a cooler temperature than paraffin making soy wax candles longer lasting.

Soy wax candles produce significantly less "ghosting" on walls when compared to traditional paraffin candles.
